The Geönczeöl Winery is located in Garamkövesd, in the Highlands, in a press house built in 1882, which has 3 cellar branches, the middle one is probably much older than the press house. Our vineyards are located in Muzsla on the Nagy Hill, in the Öreg Hill in Erdõntúli, in the Zsoldos vineyard and in Ipolyszalka. We make our wines with artisanal tools, spontaneously fermented in the most natural way possible. In the cellar we have the harvest of several vintages, because our principle is to put the wine in the glass only when it is ripe. For some wines, a few months are enough, for others, up to 3-4 years in the cellar. We can currently accommodate 10-15 people for wine tastings, but we plan to expand our wine tourism opportunities in the near future. During our intimate candlelit cellar tasting, we will also taste a few special batches that have been preserved in a few bottles. I am convinced that it is possible to make truly fine wines and run a successful winery, taking into account the development of the world’s wine industry, but preserving local traditions.
